Award-Winning Bathroom Remodel

Bathroom Remodel

The master bathroom was spacious, but underutilized. The space was dominated by the large jacuzzi tub, the shower was tucked into a corner, almost as if it was an after thought, while the toilet was in a room larger than the shower! The bathroom with its beige tile floor and beige walls was bland and unwelcoming. Although there were two large windows in the room, the room felt dark and closed off. The large jacuzzi tub, laminate countertop, wallpaper border and large frameless mirror didn’t just feel dated; it wasn’t their style.

Stylish. Sophisticated. Classic. A home spa retreat would stand the test of time, was what these homeowners were ultimately looking for, and is exactly what they received. The classic black, white and gray color scheme is timeless and echoed throughout the space serving to both tie the entire room together as well as provide a backdrop to let their new tub and shower shine. Gone is the large, dominating jetted tub and in it’s place an extra-deep freestanding white acrylic tub with a black matte pop-up drain, black matte overflow and freestanding matte black bath filler with single lever mixer, diverter, and hand shower.

To achieve the homeowners desire for a more functional layout and larger shower, the previous shower and toilet room were removed and the space reconfigured for an extra-large walk-in shower. This new layout allows both the shower and the tub to act as beautiful and function focal points for the bathroom, each providing its own form of relaxation. The two distinct spaces are seamlessly tied together through coordinating tile accent wall behind the free-standing tub. By carrying the classic white subway tile and dark grout from the shower throughout the soaking area it provides a seamless transition of depth, texture and unbroken sight lines.

Gone is the dated gold trim, boring beige color scheme and poor layout. In its place is the couple’s dream; a large, spa walk in shower. The closed off toilet room was removed, direction of the toilet changed (to make sense with the new flow to the room) and additional storage added into the space with a large custom linen cabinet. The painted maple cabinet is painted in “lace” to match the classic color scheme of the space and fitted with five full depth, adjustable shelves and finished with a classic cove molding design.
